- Main Menu
The links no longer change size when selected.
- Maps
- The activity boxes have all been replaced with year number boxes. The activity information can be seen in the form of the tool tip. To see this hover the mouse pointer over the year box.
- Pointing the mouse at a navigation junction opens a new window showing the junction in greater detail. The coloured dots show 'Two Jays' journey through the junction. A table below explains the meaning of the colours. A number following the date means that 'Two Jays' went through the junction more than once on the same day in the shown numerical order.
- At the foot of each waterway map there are 5 links:
- GB Canal Map: Goes to the national navigation map.
- A drop down box: Goes to the cruising summary for the selected year. To do this first select a year and then click 'Go!'.
- Junctions: Explains how to open and understand a junction map.
- Symbols: Explains the symbols used on the map.
- Info: The map help page.
- The single Kennet & Avon Canal map has been made into two maps to make it more readable.
- The area maps have been revised and are now based on the current British Waterways regions.
- Slide Shows
- A new position has been added to the left of the toolbar where a new icon appears.
denotes the end of a selected section;
denotes the overall end.
- All the grey/black toolbar icons change to red/blue when the mouse is pointed on to them.
- The code that creates these pages has been re-written to a modular format. This has reduced the size of the files so they should load and run quicker.
- Waterways
- A drop down menu has been added, one for each cruising season. This feature enables the slide show to start at a specified point rather than have to go through from the beginning.
Click on the down arrow to see the list.
- To make a selection from the list click on it and then click on
. This button changes to
show that a selection has been made. When the selected section ends the icon goes back to grey.
- An indicator (see 'All Slide Shows' or use the help facility) appears when the end of the selected section is reached.
- The number in brackets following the route description is the number of images for this part of the slide show.
- Where there is no number the selection goes to the described new 'Along the cut' slide show.
- The cruising year is also a link. This goes to the cruising summary for that year.
- The skip slides option has been deleted and replaced by additional 'Along the cut' slide shows: Hatton Locks can be seen under 'Locks'; The Oracle Centre shops can be seen under 'Places'; The river side houses in Bray can be seen under 'Places'.
- Along the Cut
Some of the slide shows now have this
new icon. The meaning and function of this is to return to a waterways slide show. The tool tip states which one.
- Locks. These have been re-organised. This section now includes lock flights
- Aqueducts. This is new.
- Resevoirs. This is new.
- Transport
- The instructions for viewing these photographs have been rewritten.
- National Rail. There are more locations to see.
- Metro Maps for Manchester and West Midlands have been added.
- Motorways. There are more locations to see.
- Two Jays
A new section has been added that shows the pictures of our Friday night moorings. We started including these photographs with our weekly update during last year's cruise.
- Photo Quality
Some of the photos have not been of the best quality. This was due to my desire to ensure that the images would load quickly. I have been using a batch facility in an image compression software package. This speeded things up but produced some very poor quality images. Images less than 10 Kb are being redone. My aim for the future will be to make the image size between 10 and 25 Kb's.
- Site Map
The site map page has been redrawn to make it, hopefully, easier to use and understand.
